Er liegt im S\u00fcdosten der Stadt am westlichen Ende von <a title=\"Long Island\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Long_Island\">Long Island<\/a> und ist deckungsgleich mit dem <b>Kings County<\/b>. Brooklyn ist nach <a title=\"Manhattan\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Manhattan\">Manhattan<\/a> bzw. dem New York County der am dichtesten besiedelte <a title=\"County (Vereinigte Staaten)\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/County_%28Vereinigte_Staaten%29\">Verwaltungsbezirk<\/a> der <a title=\"Vereinigte Staaten\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vereinigte_Staaten\">Vereinigten Staaten<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brooklyn wurde 1634 von den <a title=\"Niederlande\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Niederlande\">Niederl\u00e4ndern<\/a> als <i>Breuckelen<\/i> gegr\u00fcndet (nach der Stadt <a title=\"Breukelen\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Breukelen\">Breukelen<\/a> bei <a title=\"Utrecht\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Utrecht\">Utrecht<\/a>) und war bis 1898 eine eigenst\u00e4ndige Stadt, bis es nach New York eingemeindet wurde.
